Sequel to petition from the Local Government Service Commission (LGSC) on the alleged non-compliance with due process in employment of 1000 workers into the Cross River State Primary Health Care Development Agency(PHCDA),the Cross River State House of Assembly swiftly set up a special Committee to investigate the matter. The Committee was headed by House Chairman on Health,Hon.(Dr.)Ekpo Ekpo Bassey.During the public hearing,the Committee listen to the two parties,and thereafter presented the report to the House.
After extensive deliberation and incisive contributions during plenary by Honourable members,the House resolved unanimously as follows:
1.That the on-going recruitment of 1000 workers into Cross River State Primary Health Care Development Agency (CRSPHCDA) should proceed and oral interview for all applicants/candidates should be handled by the Local Government Service Commission in liaison with the agency and all appointment letters be signed and issued by the commission.
2.That the Local Government Service Commission and the agency should ensure that the recruitment exercise reflects State geographical spread.
3.That His Excellency,the Governor should appoint a board for the agency in line with the law establishing the agency.
