Oba/Itega okpame clash; What has happened to our traditional institution?

 The reoccurrence of communal clashes on issues hovering around land disputes almost on weekly basis across the state has so far proven that there's a decay in our traditional institution just like almost every other system we have.

 One can hardly explain the roles of our traditional rulers these days as they seat and watch their communities fight amongst themselves with little or nothing to offer in other to put an end to the ugly situation.

 How can one explain why the community of a Paramount ruler will wage war against another?  How did they become this weak?  Who let this happen?

 Recently we heard how angry youths dragged out a community member from the palace of their king and in the glaring eyes of security agents and mopped the person without a word from the traditional head, we've heard and seen instances where youths and community members chase their chiefs/kings out of their palace for reasons bothering on the selfish interest of these traditional leaders.

 We have unfortunately almost lost our traditional system to greed and self seeking attitudes of those we/the gods put over us to lead us.

 The trend of selling off the collective property of the community and siphoning the returns is one eminent cause of land disputes and war that we've witnessed in recent times, our traditional leaders fear to address the youths and other subordinates for fear of been lynched as a result of the crimes they've committed.

 The earlier the government institute laws or enact those already created that restricts the indiscriminate sale of land and other community assets by these heads, the better for our communities, the actions of a few cabinet members is what has resulted overtime to the loss of lives we've witnessed.

 Place a ban on sales of border lands  by traditional rulers now for us to have  peaceful commuities.
