Member, representing Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituents in the lower chamber of the National Assembly, Hon Jarigbe Agom Agom on Wednesday provided life insurance cover to five month old baby of a widow, Mrs Cecilia Ijoko Ilah, at his Ogoja country home.
The widow's husband, Mr Francis Awogo (27), died in the earlier hours of October 19, 2018 after writing his final exams on October 18, as a Biochemist student of Cross River University of Technology (CRUTECH).
Hon Jarigbe met with the wife of the deceased and her daughter, following efforts of the former President, National Association of Yala Local Government Students ( NAYLOGS), Comrade Omobidu Saviour Ohonyeta and President, National Association of Ogoja Local Government Students ( NAOS), Comrade Unamu Emmanuel.
While making his pledge to cater for the needs of the widow and her daughter, Hon Jarigbe, expressed his sympathy and condolences and said he was pained by the sad incident that took the life of the late Mr Awogo. He told the widow "going forward I will be the father of your five month old baby" and gave her some financial support in undisclosed sum.
A frontline Cross River State House of Assembly hopeful to represent Yala 1 Constituency under the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Comrade Michael Sunday Emaluji, who also led the student leaders and their members witnessed the event and appreciated the kind gesture of the parliamentarian.
It will be recalled that Hon Jarigbe Agom, who is serving his first term in the House under the platform of the People Democratic Party (PDP) has gotten his party ticket to return in 2019 for another term of four years in the green chamber.
