Sen Rose Oko emerges victorious at the PDP CRN senatorial primaries, set to fly the party's flag in 2019

The Senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District, Dr Rose Oko, Wednesday, picked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), ticket for a second term after scoring 496 votes from the total votes cast. Her victory at the primary has made her the flag bearer of the party for the 2019 general election.

Oko, who contested with Hon Godwin Nyiam and Hon Thomas Udam clearer by the party, commended the process of the election said her victory was dedicated to the people of the five local government areas that make the senatorial district and promised for better and improved representation and more developmental projects.

She promised to work with other contestants to move the senatorial district forward.

She however, revealed that Hon. Udam called her in the early hours of Wednesday and stepped down for her, saying that was why he didn’t show up at the very of the primary election.

She also urged them to massively vote for her during the 2019 general elections, and also to conduct themselves peacefully and ensure their votes count.

Meanwhile, the other contestants at the election, Hon Nyiam got five votes, while Hon Udama scored zero votes. The total votes voided were two, and the overall votes cast was 503 votes by the delegates from the five local government areas that make up Cross River North Senatorial District.

Generally, the process which was conducted at the Government Lodge Ogoja, was peaceful and all party chieftains and delegates were commended for the successful and conclusive elections.
