JUST IN: Sen Gershom Bassey attacked by aggrieved constituents

The senator representing Cross River southern senatorial district in the 7th Assembly, Sen Gershom Bassey was today attacked by an angry group of constituents.

The incident happened at the Transcorp Hotel calabar.  The group of angry constituents who attacked the distinguished senator were heard expressing their displeasure at his level of under performance throughout his stay in the current NASS and so he doesn't deserve a return ticket by the party

During the attack, his SUV was vandalized while his security details tried to smuggle him out of the location.

In a related development, As events heightened up towards the people's Democratic party senatorial primary elections across the state, information got to some youths that the materials for the election had been hijacked by one of the national officers sent to conduct the process, the official was then trailed and beaten by the angry youths before handing him over to the police at the zone 6 headquarters.
