Hon Blessing Egbara was not Beaten in Boki- Ministry

We call on the general public to kindly disregard the malicious and unfounded report making rounds that the Honourable commissioner for humanity and social welfare, Cross River State, Hon. Blessing Egbara was beaten up by some thugs on her way to one of the Local Government Areas in the central senatorial District of the state to distribute palliatives. Peddlers of such cheap lies are no doubt employed by enemies of goodwill to make mockery of themselves because Hon. Blessing Egbara cannot be swayed by such cheap lies.

Admittedly, on the 2nd of August 2020, some thugs numbering over 50 said to have been hired by one Hon. Omang Theresa 'Fobe', councillor representing Ekpachi ward of Boki Local Government Area  intercepted a team from the Cross River ministry of Humanity and social welfare led by the Honourable commissioner on their way to Boki to continue with the distribution of palliatives to the vulnerable and resulted to an argument that lasted just a moment. The  Commissioner's insistence to undertake the distribution by herself against the councillor's demand that the palliatives be taken to her house so she could carry out the exercise herself, got worse with the thugs blocking the team from leaving and threatening to shoot if they don't comply with the councilor's  demand. The argument dragged on into the late hours of Sunday 2nd August 2020 at about 9:36pm due to poor collaboration between the councilors of Boki LGA and the distribution team.  At last, the team returned to base and carried out the exercise the next day.

It is however appalling that some social media users and bloggers of Cross River extraction who are supposed to extol and encourage the Honourable commissioner for her unwavering commitment  and sacrifice for the people of the state, especially the less privileged, are rather peddling falsehood to smear her image and office. This is, in all ramifications barbaric, unacceptable and an affront on her person and office. We therefore call on all such petty peddlers of falsehood  to desist forthwith or consider it a waste of their precious time and efforts as the Honourable commissioner is not  perturbed by such attempts and she is too engrossed in her duty of providing relief materials for  the vulnerables in this era of corona virus pandemic and therefore indisposed to such cheap distractions and social media speculations.
