Mood Swings and possible ways of treating it by Charles Ekanem


Mood swings can be normal and can also be an indicator of underlying disease when feelings become excessive, all-consuming and interfere with daily living. Many conditions and lifestyle choices can cause women to experience severe changes in mood. These include pre-menstrual syndrome, pre-menstrual dysphoric disorder, stress, psychiatric causes, hormones imbalances, puberty, pregnancy and menopause.   

It’s very normal to have days where you feel sad or days when you are overjoyed. But in what seems to be so common among women more than men with greater effect to relationships in today's society especially when your mood changes don’t interfere with your life to an extreme degree, they’re generally considered to be healthy.

Mood Swings is one major problem facing about 6 women out of 10 in a societal norms. This have been linked severally to a medical condition if you switch from extremely happy to extremely depressed on a regular basis. Some causes of rapid changes in behavior can be related to mental health, hormones, substance use, or other health conditions.Frustrations, worry, and a constant state of stress can lead to severe shifts in mood, along with other psychological issues. 

WAY FORWARD

To treat this changes in mood there are things you need to do and also avoid respectively inorder to stabilize your mood and improve your health. Change in lifestyle is a major factor, regular exercise, stress management, take more of calcium supplements, change your diet and get a better sleep but please avoid  caffeine, alcohol,and sugar. These stimulants and depressants can alter your natural state, making mood shifts worse or causing them in the first place. Sure, caffeine can make you feel less fatigued, but it can also exacerbate anxiety and nervousness.

A good night sleep can cure a lot of ills, including irritability and extreme changes in mood. Rest your head for at least 7 to 8 hours per night. Most young women spent their night chatting and watching movies instead of dedicating it to sleep. This is more than a great danger to mood changes.

Research has also shown that money is a quick remedy for mood swings even though it is not substantive enough to end the problem.
