As we prepare to elect a new senator for our Senatorial district,to consolidate on the laudable achievements of our late Senator,it is pertinent to have full knowledge of the antecedents of all aspirants in seeking to represent the great people of Cross River North.
On this epistle, we shall take a critical look at the roles Rt.Hon. Jarigbe Agom has played in successive governments before his revolutionary entry into the 8th National Assembly as a representative of the good people of Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency of Cross River State at the Lower Chambers of the National Assembly.
Rt.Hon. Jarigbe Agom who has paid his dues over the years in different capacities before his election into the National Assembly was a self made personality to be reckoned with,hence the repeated calls and clamour from different quarters for him to join the Cross River Northern senatorial District race to consolidate our gains. In 2008,when his contemporaries in Politics were looking for offices that had budgetary allocations, Rt.Hon. Jarigbe Agom made himself available to serve as Ex-Officio member, Cross River State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Also, in 2010/11, he was the Cross River State Coordinator For the Goodluck/Sambo Presidential Campaign Organization,whose contribution in no small measure led to the successful campaign and subsequent victory of the PDP in the presidential elections.Before the build up to the 2015 general elections,he was one of the strong voices who clamoured that power should return to the Northern Part of Cross River State.
The MPs' various contributions at the state and federal government level earned him the position of the "Coordinator, Subsidy Reinvestment Programme (SURE-P)" Cross River State Chapter under the administration of President Good luck Ebele Jonathan (GCFR).He is a receipient of various awards and honours, which includes the prestigious "Man Of Substance Award From SAFARI GROUP, Humanitarian Award From THE RESIDENT DOCTORS of Nigeria", South South Most Performing Legislator, Yala Achievers Award amongst many others.
During his first term as a law maker, Rt.Hon. Jarigbe Agom sponsored many bills including the Federal University Of Technology Ogoja bill,which was passed into law and is currently awaiting presidential assent,and another already gazetted into the Nigerian constitution following presidential assent,a feat that has attracted many to him as a result of his legislative prowess and sagacity and doggedness.
In the words of the "JAGABAN" of Cross River North, Rt.Hon. Jarigbe Agom in 2014; " leadership Is not a crash program". There must be a build-up. Our politics isn't without history. My dear people of Ogoja and Yala, the facts speak for itself. We have a date with history. Let's get it right, we can't afford to bungle it. The stakes are high. The right decision is going to have a positive multiplier effect on even our children yet unborn, but a wrong decision is going to affect even our own existence if we fail to do the right thing,taking all the parameters of effective representation into consideration".
We present him yet again,for another assignment to sustain and consolidate on the laudable achievements of Late Sen. Rose Okoji Oko and take Cross River North to greater heights of prosperity via infrastructural and human capital development .
Victory lies with the truth,his projects/interventions programs are visible.The Future of Cross River North is bright and only a visionary leader can take us through the path of fufillment and Rt.Hon. Jarigbe Agom is the man.
