Dear people,
Compliments and best greetings of the season and happy new day to all greatest Boki nation and kind regards to our counterparts, the Ikom and Cross River State people in general.
It would be out of place if I fail to pave way to salute all media personalities who have always been up and undaunting in the charge for good leadership, purposeful representation and selfless governance.
It would be also an aberration and unforgivable sin not to give credence and eulogies to God our Creator, the giver of life, strength, courage and all good things.
Nonetheless, it is despicably abysmal and outrightly peurility contempt to human race and purpose of Democracy if i tow the path of sycophancy and praise-singing in the face of parallel minded representation and high-handedness by our representatives, Rt Honourable member representing the Ikom/Boki Federal constituency, Rt. Hon. Ntool Christopher Ngoro Agibe and Senator Prof. Sandy O. Onor, Senator representing Cross River Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Abuja- Nigeria.
It is highly disheartening and shameful to see these men of high repute, of good family background to pay deaf ears and blind-eyes in the face of challenges enraged by their constituents coupled with the global novel Coronavirus pandemic otherwise Covid-19.
It would be worthy of note that these representatives of ours have not reached out to their constituencies with palliatives of food items, cash and other things at this critical and difficult time we are engulfed in and encountering the deadly pandemic.
It is also, highly barbaric to note that these representatives have appointees who work in different capacities to make the work load less, but, yet, they haven't seen the need for their principals to come down to the needy, aging, vulnerable ones at various points of our localities. If you are not happy with this act as a close ally to this self-representation, what have you done? Rather, you decide to choose the line of muteness to satisfy and enrich your pockets of personal but selfish bellies.
It is altruistic, in a democratic era as ours, politics brings about power tussle, power grabbing and such powers should be used to determine the growth, success and development of the society and her inhabitants, hence, the main purpose and reason of venturing into politics and seeking to represent is defeated already.
In a way of appraisal,i give kudos to Senator Prof. Sandy Onor for his prompt response in doling about two million (2000,000,0000:00) Naira only to the market women who fire razes their shops and businesses in Ikom and other minor reach out which information isn't at my disposal. But sir, that is not enough for an occupant of such a lofty, exalting but exhaustive office of Senator as yours.
Overtime dear Senator, we expected you influence and commission constituency projects, give and award scholarship to deserving constituents in secondary or tertiary citadel's of learning, give empowerment to youths, women in efforts to contain robbery, cultism activities and create job opportunities for the Cross River Central people, but sorrowfully and more disappointedly we get less or nothing from you both.
In this clime, let me penchant thus, it baffles me as a person and constituent to the above personalities that in different occasions of trying to get to my representative in person of Rt. Hon. Ntool Christopher Agibe in series of calls and text messages proves abortive as he's too busy with what i have little or no idea of, and to my professor senator, he busy's calls and reply only text messages that seek to praise him and ignore those that seek to call his attention to needs of the people they tense and swore to protect and make life worthwhile.
Please note; i stand to benefit virtually nothing, if parraventure this triumvirate's so-decide now to provide any form of palliatives to the people, but what is worth doing, is worth doing well and at the worthy time.
Pathetically, most times people with the passion, vision, pedigree, political will, credentials, credibility, credence, capacity, capability and large hearts are ignored by power brokers and desperados with the fear that the set of freewillers would not allow them to perpetuate their greedy, selfish and personal stomach infrastructure tendencies in public office if given the opportunity to serve.
Sardonically, it is disdainful to see the youths who they say are leader's of tomorrow stand against themselves, despise each other and clamping down on their personalities just to register cheap loyalties in order to gain unmerited favours ( peanuts, and crumbs from their master's tables if only they do get). What a shame on us !!!
We use our hands to enslave and enclave ourselves by electing wrong people and hold brief for them while they sip on expensive glasses, fly on Jets, wear expensive aprons, enjoy our collective resources, intelligence with their children schooling abroad laughing at us and we placing our brightened future on alters of jeopardy and deceits.
Enough Is Enough !!!
Nevertheless, the above outlined and highlighted sentiments has caused our nation at large a high level of institutional decadence, mismanagement of powers, misappropriation of funds, and abrupt underdevelopment. We can't continue mortgaging our future for unwarranted loyalties, uncalled-for sentiments of political party's affiliation.
Note; "political parties will come and go but the society remains to testify your deeds, beit, good or bad."
How can a senator be too busy for his constituents but less busy to attend burials and ceremonies of high profile citizens? Did we elect you to attend such for us?
How can a House of representative member choose to seal his office against constituents who elected him and prioritize what would never do us any good, is that your duty in the House?
The earlier we realise that the clock is ticking, power is transient and what you do counts, the better for human race.
While i await for a positive change of character from the dou, be assured of my continued prayers and supports for your leadership and unalloyed respect to your various Distinguished personalities.
I am Paschal Nyiam, your constituents.
A writer and blogger who believes in your abilities to changing the narratives.
