The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has promised to ensure level playing field for all members participating in the governorship primaries in Edo state which is scheduled to hold on June 22.
Speaking with Daily Independent, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Lanre Issa- Onilu said no aspirants should entertain any fear as the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) has no choice but to be fair in its dealings.
Issa-Onilu, who admonished all the aspirants to go and prepare for the primaries said as a progressive party, the leadership of APC will ensure that no aspirant will be given a preferential treatment above others as everything will be done according to the rules.
“We don’t need to give any assurance that we will be fair. We don’t have a choice not to be fair. We have always been fair in our dealings and this is our party”
“As Progressives, we do everything according to the rules. Nobody should entertain any fear. People should rather get ready for the primaries. There is going to be a level playing field for every body” .
On the statement by Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki that the party’s National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole should recuse himself from the primaries, Issa- Onilu said only Oshiomhole is in the best position to answer the question as the governor specifically mentioned his name.
