LGA ELECTIONS: Youth Murdered as thugs storm Ikum-Irede, Ogoja.

A young man from Nkum Irede ward, James Naku was murdered in Ogoja Local Government area over the weekend. His body was recovered by the Police yesterday and deposited at the Mortuary without autopsy.

Recall that there was a Local Government Council elections over the weekend and election materials of Nkum Irede ward was reportedly handed over to a former House of Assembly member, Paddy Uguge who took the materials to his family house.

All attempts by the youths of the Community to get the materials and participate in voting were futile. Eventually, he released some of the materials for some polling units.

At the end of voting, results from polling units were taken to the Rack Center but Paddy Uguge ordered the Supervisor to his house and asked that all the materials should be brought to his house. The youths resisted because his house wasn’t a Rack Center. Paddy Uguge took the materials in his possession in to his vehicle and told the youths that they were not going to have a Councillor. This angered the youths who blocked his Car from leaving. A free for all fight ensumed between the Youths and Paddy Uguge’s thugs.

Later in the day Paddy and his gang went after the Youths of the Community. Late James Naku, was riding a bike with his younger brother. They were both chased by Paddy Uguge and his gang around Igodor Village. The younger brother was able to escape, leaving behind his bike but they continued chasing the elder brother. The younger brother, Naku, disclosed that he didn’t hear from the elder brother until they got a call from one of Paddy Uguge’s brothers, the next morning(Sunday, 31 May, 2020) that the elder brother had been killed.

Eye witness report has it that, Paddy Uguge’s team requested for the corpse of late James insisting that the body be released to the him and his boys for burial but the Police declined.

Rumors has it that Paddy Uguge was charged by the Governor to do better in the Local Government Council elections, after he played anti party in the 2019 general elections but his desperation has led to the death of a promising young man.

Pending police investigation,  no arrest has brent made so far.
