C'River Govt intensifies fight against Covid-19, unveils 100 Bed Isolation Centre.


Further to the fight against the COVID-19 Global Pandemic, the Cross River State Government has commissioned a 100 bed Isolation Center in Adiabo.

The center was commissioned on Friday, 6th June by the State Governor, His Excellency Sen Prof Ben Ayade who was ably represented by the State's Commissioner for Health who's also the Chairman of the COVID-19 Taskforce Response Team Dr Betta Edu and the Honorable Commissioner for Finance who doubles as the Secretary of the Taskforce Asuquo Ekpenyong Jr.

Unveiling the Isolation Center, the Finance Commissioner applauded the effort of the State Government noting that the proactive efforts of the Governor, Sen Prof Ben Ayade is what has kept the State Covid-19 free. 

He further stated that “We have successfully fulfilled the mandate of preparing for the Worst while praying for the Best."
He also thanked CaCovid for the support given to the State Government in setting up the isolation center.


On her part, the Honorable Commissioner for Health Dr Betta Edu thanked firstly, God Almighty for His protection and safety as she went further to applaud the giant efforts and tremendous contributions of the State Governor. "That we're COVID-19 free as a State is as  a result of God's intervention and the numerous efforts and support of our amiable Governor. Sen Prof Ben Ayade, he has led from the front and has been in the field himself to drive this process. As a State without a confirmed case, we now have three Isolation Centers that are of NCDC standard and very well equipped with high standard Medical Facilities/equipments that can still be used by the health sector even after this pandemic is over.”




The 100 bed space Adiabo Isolation Center is made up of the male ward, the female ward and the VVIP wards and in case of any eventuality which no one is praying for, the State is ready to manage such cases. Hon Asuquo thanked the Coalition Against COVID-19 for the initiative and support and promised them the State's desire to keep the partnership. 

The Chief Medical Director of UCTH who was represented by Dr Emmanuel Effah reinstated the hospital's commitment to continue the support and synergy with the CRSG in fighting this global pandemic with over 400 health workers already trained to man this Isolation Centers.
