Achievements Of The Executive Chairman CR-SUBEB, Dr Stephen Odey In The Basic Education Sector One Year After Re-appointmentement from June 3rd, 2019 - June 3rd, 2020


 


• In Infrastructure, 36 public schools rehabilitated with model school structures, comprising of a nine classroom block, lavatories for male and female, offices, library, water facility, etcetera. One newly built model school, procurement of land for UBEC smart school.

Construction of British Canadian International School and West African Teachers Continuous Training Institute at 95% completion. The Board has also recently conducted Bid opening for 36 new projects.

• In a continuous effort to improve on the learning condition of pupils, the Board supplied 9,422 plastic tables and chairs to primary schools. 

• The Board also supplied 1,200 tables and chairs to teachers across the state.

• Under trainings, 1,450 teachers across the state were trained





• In instructional materials, the Board distributed 4,336 agricultural (farm) equipment, some of which were; watering cans, wheel barrows, hoes, etcetera.

Over 57,000 library resource materials were distributed to primary and junior secondary schools in the state. Some of which include; dictionaries, Mathematics, Literature, computers and English textbooks. In addition, the Board also distributed 85 sets of science laboratory equipment, 130 mathematics teaching kits and 590 mathematical sets to primary and junior secondary schools in the state. 

• The Board also procured and supplied 34 motorcycles for monitoring officers across the various Local government Education Authorities (LGEAs).


• Under sports and recreation, the Board distributed 995 sport equipment which includes; Soccer goal post, nets and boots, Athletic baton, shot put and discus missai, hand ball goal post and net, and basketball and nets. Play houses, merry-go round, building blocks and other exciting kits were distributed to schools.

• In the area of Awards; Cross River emerged as the best performing jolly phonics state in Nigeria in the 2019 jolly phonics screening exercise organized by Universal Learning Solutions (ULS). To celebrate the success of the project in the State since its inception in 2011, Literacy Champion Award was presented to Governor Ben Ayade and Executive Chairman SUBEB, Dr Stephen Odey, best performing pupils and teachers were also rewarded.

• Dr Stephen Odey also bagged Nigerian Institute of public Relations (NIPR) Excellent Leadership /Service award.

• Dr Odey also carried out total renovation /digitalization of SUBEB Administrative Office.
