The Minister of State for Power, Prince Goddy Jedy-Agba, OFR has refuted claims froma section of the media which claims he ordered the arrest of a group of Cross Riverians who visited his Abuja resident amidst the Coronavirus Pandemic.
The Social media was yesterday flooded with tales insinuating and alleging that Agba ordered the arrest of some people who visited his Life Camp, Abuja residence to appeal for help and sundry assistance.
The report according to investigation was a misinterpretation of facts aimed at maligning the Minister.
Speaking with our corresponding, the Hon Minister urged all to disregard the news.
According to Agba, his Security details were surprised to see a total of Forty Seven (47) persons at the entrance to his official residence despite the Federal Government directives to Nigerians to stay at home and maintain Social Distancing during the Corona Virus lockdown.
“As a law abiding citizen who has made media appearances urging people to save lives by staying at home even if they are tempted to see loved ones, I was shocked on hearing of the crowd at my residence against the coronavirus restrictions order of the federal government’'.
“Realizing that the crowd was ignoring the government’s stay-at-home advice, the security guards asked them to put down their names and return back when restrictions on Lockdown may have been relaxed. Nobody was arrested, nobody was interrogated and none detained as widely circulated. The security details only insisted that social distancing guidelines and Government instructions admonishing Nigerians to stay at home be complied. We must practise what we preach”, the Minister said.
