The DG, School to Land Program, Criss River State, Chief Mrs Angela Ogeyi Odey has hit the ground, setting pace for sustainable livelihood for Cross Riverians as Nigerians, just like other global citizens, experience lockdown and consequent Stay at Home.
No sooner than her appointment was announced that she began planning, just like the diligent ant, for the period after Covid-19, while others are busy thinking of relief to eke out livelihood in the mean time.
The workaholic politician, when asked of her plan for the School to Land Program, outlined very many programs that she is poised to launch for the benefit of the youngsters in the state.
When her designation was announced, social media was aggoged with questions as to what School to Land represents. Most of the pundits forgot that position is validated by responsibility, but not the title. One may have an office with a big title where nothing is happening, but another person may have an office with seemingly meaningless title with great impact, which politics and governance is about. The zest, commitment and force with which she has begun, demonstrates that the office means little to her, compared to the huge impact she is poised to deliver.
According Chief Angela, her concept paper, the blueprint for her office is ready, the demo farm is being cultivated in Yala and consultations for acquisition of land for demo farm in each LGA are ongoing.
She further expressed her joy for the timely announcement of the emergency job recruitment by His Excellency, Sen. Ben Ayade to absorb 5,000 people in the agricultural sector.
"I am overwhelmingly engulfed with joy for the timely intervention of His Excellency, Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade. He is an exceptional Governor with unparalleled foresight; while other people lockdown and halt their economies, he has locked up, opening numerous opportunities for Cross Riverians to create wealth. His announcement on the recruitment of 8,000, out of which 5,000 will be engages in the agricultural sector, should be applauded."
She said all is set for training of young farmers across the 18 LGAs of the state. Covid-19 is the mayor limiting factor right now. She added that once Covid-19 pandemic is arrested, the School to Land Green Meadow Program will be launched and young Cross Riverians who are interested in agribusiness will be trained and empowered to become self employed.
She enjoins Cross Riverians to, without wasting any time asking unnecessary question, key into the current recruitment and School to Land Program, as registration for training begins soon.
