The federal government and the Southwest state governors have agreed to set up a legal framework to legalise the establishment of a regional securityoutfit, Operation Amotekun.
The agreement was reached after a closed door meeting presided over by the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo.
Osinbajo met the southwest Governors immediately after the expanded National Economic Council meeting which he presided over.
Also in attendance at the meeting was the minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, and the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu.
Mr Malami had earlier opposed the security outfit which he referred to as”illegal”.
