The rescheduled elections into various offices of the executives of the Yema Yala Development Initiative (YYDI) now holds on Sunday, December 1, 2019, in Abuja.
This was contained in a statement by the Secretary of the recently constituted electoral committee, Prince George Ogonyi, which also outlined guidelines for the elections.
He also noted that the deadline for the submission of completed nomination forms by all interested candidates is Friday, November 29, 2019.
It would be recalled that the elections to fill the vacant executive offices was scheduled for November 17, but was shifted following a resolution to allow new members to participate.
The committee further called on all indigenes of Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State resident in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to fully participate.

AT THE GENERAL MEETING OF YEMA YALA DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE held on the 17th November, 2019 at Asset Garden, Garki - Abuja.
The following resolutions/motions were proposed and passed:
1. That the executive body of the organization, having exhausted its tenure, be dissolved. It was dissolved.
2. That an electoral body be constituted from amongst members to conduct election into various offices as provided in the organization constitution; it was so constituted.
3. That the electoral panel be charged with powers to conduct credible elections which date was fixed for the 1st December, 2019.
Therefore, the electoral panel put forth the following guidelines:
A. For the purpose of the elections,any candidate
(i) Must be at least 18 years of age.
(ii) Must be a registered member of the YEMA YALA DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE.
(iii) Must obtain and fill a nomination form, and return with a fee as follows:
a. Chairman - N20, 000
b. Deputy Chairman - N10, 000
c. Secretary General- N10, 000
d. Asst. Secretary General - N5, 000
e. Fin. Secretary - N5, 000
f. Treasurer - N5, 000
g. Director of Publicity - N5, 000
h. Provost - N5, 000
i. Welfare 1 - N5, 000
j, Welfare 11 - N5, 000
iv. Candidate must return completed form to the secretariat or call the Secretary,Independent Electoral Committee (IEC) Prince George Ogonyi on 08136460143 on or before Friday the 29th November, 2019, for further information.
v. Members are expected to be seated at 2:00pm while the Elections shall commence at 2:30pm prompt.
vi. Candidate must present manifesto.
B. Elections shall be by:
i. Open secret balloting
ii. Candidate MUST be physically present.
iii. All identified/accredited members casting their votes.
iv. Distribution of ballot papers to voters and voting begins simultaneously.
v. Open counting/Recording of results in the results sheets

vii. SWEARING-IN
