BLOGGERS & JOURNALISTS? By Endurance Onun.

There has been so much attack from Cross Riverians against bloggers practicing in Cross River State. These attacks, before now were majorly physical and offline, but sadly, the wind has blown effortfully to the online community.

To add flesh to this, these attackers, recently started sponsoring debates to place journalists and bloggers at two contradicting poles. As interesting as this debate is, the aim is vicious and to say the least, diabolic.

Here is the conclusion of the matter; in today's world, "journalists are bloggers and bloggers are jounalists!" There is no two ways about it and I will tell you why;

1. Top practicing journalists have blogs that drive their readership.
2. All frontline newspapers in Nigeria (example; Nations, Vanguard, Punch, Sun, etc) have blogs - & most interestingly, these said blogs are valued as "top notch" in the runnings of these corporations.

In Cross River State today, you can barely mention one journalist who does not own a blog and at same time have no affiliation with any blog. With all honesty, some of these acclaimed journalists pay dearly to secure spaces for their stories on both local & national blogs, even after these stories were published on traditional newspapers.

Any traditional newspaper or jounalist that/who has, up until now, not taken full advantage of electronic reporting (otherwise known as "blogs") is unserious, archaic, analogue and outdated. Hence, the need to fan the marriage between bloggers & jounalists instead of aim to set them at opposite ends.
