The Vice Chancellor, University of Calabar,Prof Zana Akpagu, welcomes participating universities to a 3-Day U6+ International Conference in furtherance of the search for sustainable development in Africa at the Senate Chambers, Unical.
The 7th Conference with the theme:"Harnessing Africa's Potentials in Science, Technology and Humanities for Sustainable Development" is a forum to brainstorm on research and development initiatives in Africa.
Conference participants are drawn from the University of Cape Coast,Ghana, University of Eldoret,Kenya, University of Ilorin,Cape Peninsula University of Technology, Cape Town South Africa,Kwara state university, Malete, Michael and Cecilia Ibru University and the university of the Gambia, Banjul
According to him,"Africa has what it takes in terms of manpower,mineral resources, environmental and climatic conditions to build viable, resourceful and sustainable academic institutions that can be the envy of other surrounding continents".
Declaring the conference open, the Deputy Governor of Cross River state,a former Vice Chancellor of the university of Calabar, Prof. Ivara Esu urged them to evolve ways in Technology, Humanities and sciences to solve Africa's problems.
"The essence of this conference can only be better appreciated if it aggregates ideas to play their roles".
