The outreach
The people of Woda Community in Yala local government Area of Cross River State so cherish their heritage and value their culture very much not withstanding their early contact with education.
This is why they pay utmost attention to the traditional ceremonies that abound. Some of these ceremonies include, chieftaincy enthronement, coronation ceremonies, initiation into the masquerade cults, marriage rites,age grade groups, burial rites, and so on.
August 14,2019 will not be forgotten in a hurry as the community was agog as they marked the historical event of the laying to rest of the sixth monarch of the ancient kingdom of Woda, His Royal Highness, Ogamode Odey Ipuole and the enthronement of the Seventh, His Royal Highness, Ogamode Oko Ipuole of Otakpa clan who ascended the throne of his ancestors among fun fare and jubilations.
The succession of the chiefs (Egamode) among the three rotatory throne's of Woda Kingdom are as follows.
The pioneer and legendary royal father who transited the Space was His Royal Highness Ogamode Abigwa Aloho from the Otakpa clan, followed by Okungu Oga Ero who was installed From Ope Clan and Ogaji Ipuole from Oyikpachor Clan, the fourth is Inaku Ipuole who ascended from Otakpa while the fifth is Ibu Ipuole from Ope clan, then the sixth is HRH Ogamode Odey Ipuole (Oyikpachor) and the seventh which is the most recently enthroned, is HRH Ogamode Oko Ipuole a consummate business man, Farmer, a community mobilizer and the descendant of HRH Ogamode Abigwa Aloho and HRH Ogamode Inaku Ipuole of the Otakpa clan in Woda Kingdom.
Dignitaries present at the ceremony includes, clan heads from various clans, kingmakers, community leader and a former member of the National Assembly, Hon Chris Eriba, A former director with the Cross River State Food Bank, Mr John Odey, DSP Mathias Ogonyi (Rtd), Chiefs, families, friends amongst other bigwigs were also present.
The event featured traditional rites, consultations, cultural display, dance, masquerade parades, burial rites and the enthronement of the new Chief HRH Ogamode Oko Ipuole.
