More than 200 Rice farmers in Okpoma the Yala Local Government headquarters have received rice seedlings under the Cross River State Agricultural revolution program.
The programme is expected to support the planting of over 2,000 acres of farmlands across each local government.
It aims to increase Rice production, raise income of farmers and cut down the unemployment rate as well as modernize agriculture .
In Cross River State, Agriculture remains the main source of livelihood for the people with about 70 per cent of the citizens into rice production.
Governor Benedict Ayade's administration seeing agriculture as a huge potential to create more jobs for the teeming unemployed youth, have embarked on several agricultural schemes.
