DPR reacts to NYCN petition, seals 5 Petrol Stations in Ogoja for Pump Price Hike.


The  Department of Petroleum Resources(DPR) has reacted swiftly to a petition addressed to it by the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Ogoja Chapter regarding the inflation of pump price of Petroleum products in Ogoja local Government Area, as well as Northern Cross River senatorial district.

 The NYCN, Ogoja Chapter had in a letter dated July 2519, notified the agency on the illegal activities of Filling stations in the LGA and urged the agency to swing into action in order to prevent civil unrest.



  The early hours of today  witnessed the sealing of about five filling stations within Ogoja Local Government area, which include, Blessed oil and gas Resources,  PET oil and Gas, MRS, Ayim oil and Igbe oil and Gas



The Coordinator of NYCN, Ogoja Chapter, Comrade Atunishor Aju while reacting to the development via telephone, disclosed to VOICE OF YALA, that he was elated and happy that the agency had stepped in right on time to curb the menace.


Aju further pleaded with the agency to ensure strict compliance with its rules by the Oil marketers before reopening the stations.

 He also urged the 5 LGA chapters of NYCN in Northern Cross River state as well as the state Executive to support this action as the entire  LGAs in the North will be visited by the Taskforce.

VOICE OF YALA learnt that, most of the filling stations in the Senatorial district were selling Fuel at N150 and above as against the N145 approved by the Federal Government.

 All efforts to reach the leader of the taskforce as at press time proved abortive
