Following the murder of a road side trader by officials of the Department Of Road Transport (DOPT)in calabar, social media (Facebook) has been awash with various documentations of the event as well as condemnation of the agency and recommendations to the government by Social media users.
In a reaction to a post connected to the incident made by
Simon utsu (public affairs analyst) on
Facebook, the member representing Ogoja state constituency in the state House of Assembly and leader of the House, Rt Hon
Peter Odey, he noted that the house was aware of the situation and was going to look into the matter as proceedings commence this week, he also urged the public to send any information related to the incident which could be helpful to forward such to the state Assembly.
He wrote: "Cross river state house of Assembly will this week look at the activities and actions of operatives of DOPT. Please send us any information you think might help our findings so we can take proper actions . Thanks."
it could be recalled that Mr Michael was crushed to death with an operational vehicle of the agency on Friday June 21, 2019 while on duty to clear the road off traders, the officials were said to had seized Michael's wares which led to his attempting to obstruct the vehicle from moving before been knocked down.
Late Michael laid on a taxi in protest by colleagues in calabar on Friday.
Until Michael's death, he was a road side trader of shoes around watt market and he left behind a wife and children.
