Gov Ayade dispels rumors of massacre of Ebonyi indegenes


The Cross River State government through  the state Security Adviser North has denied reports that about 2,000 Izzi indigenes of Ebonyi State, resident in Ekajuk, Ogoja Local Government Area were sacked.

The State Security adviser in charge of the Northern senatorial district where ogoja is under, Mr Leo Inyambe, described the reports as false and uncalled for.

 In his words, "what happened was that Izzi people allegedly killed two Ekajuk men who went to mill rice in Ebonyi State which angered the Ekajuk people, who  in retaliation destroyed some properties of the Izzi people No one was killed"

Inyambe stated that after getting  the information, he moved to the disputed area with security operatives where they gathered 30 Izzi indigenes and took them to Ogoja for their safety; while tension calmed.

He reiterated that the people have not been transported to Ebonyi State as alleged and are still in safe hands in ogoja.
