Former Miss Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State and female activist (voice of the girl child), Rt. Queen Jesustina Ogar, holds a 3days lecture/ sensitization program to commemorate the international menstrual hygiene day.
The lectures that started today 28th, from MATHIAS OFFOBOCHE SECONDARY SCHOOL, Okuku, had in attendance students from the senior secondary category across some government schools in Yala LGA.
Rt. Queen Jesustina Ogar, had an intensive interactive session with the students on menstrual hygiene and how clean and Comfortable a girl child can be when properly taken care of especially during her menstrual Period.
During her lecture, She emphasized on the use of good sanitary towels, frequent change during the period and proper bath to avoid infections and body Odour, as this can lead to low esteem in an adolescent girl child.
She also made illustrations on how the sanitary pad should be installed and won to avoid stains and discomfort.
Rt. Queen Jesustina went further to distribute ANGEL SANITARY PADS to the students to support their next menstrual cycle.
Menstrual Hygiene Day ( MHD, MH Day in short) is an annual awareness day on May 28 of every year to highlight the importance of good menstrual hygiene management (MHM). It was initiated by the German-based NGO WASH United in 2014 and aims to benefit women and girls worldwide. The 28th was selected to acknowledge that 28 days is the average length of the menstrual cycle.
Rt. Queen Jesustina and her team have proven to understands the efficacy of a good menstrual hygiene management, hence the reason behind this laudable project.
The team will be visiting Government Secondary School Aliforkpa, community secondary School Gabu, and host of other schools across Yala LGA.
