The elder brother of the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Cross River State, Sen. John Owan-Enoh has denied claims that he rejected his brother and opted for Governor Ben Ayade ahead of the forth coming elections.
CALABAR REPORTERS learnt that, Anthony Owan-Enoh, who is the Vice Chancellor of the Cross River University of Technology, CRUTECH said he was only invited on terms he new nothing about and as a public servant working, he ought to obey the call.
It was on Media that the VC alongside other monarchs in Etung local government area of the State, the home town of Owan-Enoh had endorsed Ayade for second term."I think I was quoted out of context, our people say you cannot refuse an invitation, but you can refuse why you were invited," Owan was quoted.
Meanwhile reactions have continued to trail the claim to endorsement, with some Cross Riverians calling it a staged managed media show, to salvage the recent adoption of Owan-Enoh as consensus candidate of 15 political parties, and a reaction of the Governor to the Victory of Owan-Enoh at the court, as substantive Candidate, contrary to the governors expectation.
This Reporter claimed that the Etung monarchs present that day said they were not told to come for an endorsement but a meeting with the governor.
One of the chiefs who spoke on the condition of anonymity said, "It was more like an ambush, we came innocently, and they claimed it was endorsement, i think its just politicians doing their gimmicks".
