The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Cross River State is in trouble as fifteen (15) Governorship candidates under the aegis of COFOPPAG has endorsed and adopted the All Progressives Congress, APC Governorship candidate in the state, Sen. John Owan-Enoh as consensus candidate for the 2019 general election.
The Coalition of Owan Friends of Political Parties and Groups (COFOPPAG) who adopted Owan-Enoh on Thursday in Calabar said they have heard the cry of Cross Riverians, that is why they came up with this coalition and they believed that the APC candidate is God sent.
Speaking during the endorsement, the Director General of COFOPPAG and Governorship candidate for PPN, Pst. Ntami Esege, said that the essence of the body was to ensure they kick out bad governance in Cross River State. He said they’ve been approached by other candidates, but they decided to pick Owan-Enoh as he is the sole candidate to take Cross River State to the promised land.
Pst Esege said, “We came up with COFOPPAG where propaganda, lies, insecurity, bad governance has been the order of the day in Cross River State.
“Other candidates called us, but we sat down and reasoned what the state is going through and so we said let us pick a candidate that is credible and knows the recipes of good governance; we decided to pick Owan-Enoh.
“We are very sure that his (Owan-Enoh) candidature will bring smile on the faces of Cross Riverians.”
Another Governorship candidate of the ASD, Pst. Charles Okoi said Owan-Enoh’s manifesto made him to truly believe that he is the right man to salvage the state.
He said, “I listened to Owan-Enoh when he had a press conference and it immediately rang on me that this is the right man for the job.”
He added that, “COFOPPAG is a Godly instituted body working so hard to ensure Cross River is made great again.
“I want to ensure as a candidate that we will deliver Owan-Enoh at the polls this 2019. We’ve heard the people’s cry and that is why we came up with this coalition and we believe God is going to make this come to pass.
“We are tired of a government being run as a family affairs,” Okoi said.
On his part, the APC Governorship candidate, Owan-Enoh said he is very proud that Cross River State still have people like those in COFOPPAG.
“Standing here, I am very proud that the State can still have people like them (COFOPPAG). They have refused to collect sign-on allowance like many do.
“I didn’t go for them, I didn’t look for them, but they looked for me. They are candidates in their own right – they bought their forms and emerged candidates of their respectful parties, but just because they want a great Cross River State, they decided to forfeit all of that. I am very grateful,” Owan-Enoh said.
Owan-Enoh further warned Cross Riverians of the dangers ahead of 2019 if a wrong choice is being made at the polls. He said, “There is a great danger ahead of 2019 if this government gets reelection.
“I am warning Cross River State, for everything about this government is fraud – the industrialisation and the rest are all frauds; they just use it to siphon our monies, resources and wealth to overseas.”
He concluded that, “In unionism and togetherness, driven by common love, I can assure you that I won’t fail or disappoint you and at the end of the day, you will be very proud of choosing me.”
The Cross River State Governorship Candidates of the various political parties that adopted Owan-Enoh as consensus candidate for the 2019 general election include, Chief Erete Okposong – KOWA Party; Dr. Kenneth Brown – AD; Moses Adogo – BNPP; Dr. Charles Effiong Effiom – AD; Engr. Others include, Ina Thomas – C4C; Fred Omari – JMPP; Chief Ubi Ofem – MPN; Pst. Godwin Daniel – MAJA; and Prince Ekeng Effiom – AA.
