SUMMARY: QUEEN OF AFRICANISM

 We are great, We are beautiful, we are survivors, We are Africans. We've not stopped fighting despite the odds neither have we stopped trying to come out unique. My Africa, My Pride, My Heritage, we are deeply rooted.

 It is the 3rd Edition of the Miss Africa pageant 2018 with the theme "AFRICANISM" which happened on the 27th of December 2018 at the Calabar International Conference Center with 25 beautiful ladies representing their various country.

 His excellency, the Governor of Cross River State, Senator, Professor Ben Ayade, in his opening speech said he expects a queen who will use beauty and brain to portray the true spirit of Africa. He said African must go beyond color, language or status. He said Africa must take the center stage in humanity, technology, and beauty. He advised the judges to use the eyes of an African man to select a true African woman to represent Africa.

 Also interviewing the Miss Africa 2017, Miss Gaseangwe Balopi from Botswana, she advised that the winner should be the best she can ever be and take herself seriously.

The girls stayed in a boot camp for 2weeks, where they had the opportunity to be visit tourist locations, trained and nurtured as African women. Led by Mrs Florence Ita Giwa who coached the girls, taught them how to dance, cook, take care of a man, other etiquette and the ladies were taken into the fattening room too. They had the opportunity to participate in other activities with Miss Nigeria emerging as the winner.

Down into the event, ladies who entered into the top 5 position were Miss Zambia, Miss Sierra Leone, Miss Nigeria, Miss Congo and Miss Ghana.

After the question and answer session to the top 5. Miss Zambia Gladys Kayumba emerged as the 2nd runner up, Miss Nigeria Chimamaka Nneamaka as the 1st runner up and Miss Congo Dorcas Kasinde emerged and crowned the winner of Miss Africa 2018. 

She was awarded with a brand new car and sum of $35,000

The Governor and his wife, congratulated the winner and the other contestants and hosted them to a dinner at his house.

It was indeed a fight for who will wear the crown and present herself as a true African woman in beauty, intellect, strength and the representative of the rich African Culture and Her heritage. So much is expected from the just crowned queen and we wish her the best throughout her reign.
