As the 2019 general elections draw near the normal razzmatazz of politicians and their teeming supporters has heated up especially in the wake of the decisions of the Peoples Democratic Party.
For a state like Cross River which has never been ruled by any party other than the PDP with so much benefactors in the state at all levels looked unshakeable but can this stand the taste of time going by the unfavourable decision of the party to some elite members?
It can be said that those aggrieved by the recent decision of the party to give automatic tickets to some(if not all) it's serving National Assembly members is a little bit to much to take by these ambitious group of persons who are gearing up to use the exit door ahead of 2019 general elections in order to seek for greener pastures else where(an act which is not strange to Nigeria's polity)
In 2014 build up to the 2015 general elections they was massive defection to the ruling All Progressive Congress which eventually saw its victorious emergence at the pools but this was so because the party already had control of some major states and the new twist was only a plus, in the case of Cross River state as at September 2018 the APC only has 2 House of Assembly members (Obubra and Odukpani) who defected to the party at different times with the most later happening few day ago and a Senator (Central Senatorial District), the rest positions in the state Assembly and the National Assembly is controlled by the PDP.
While most of those agitating to leave the PDP are persons that have of no doubt ripped and sucked the PDP dry but for their ego and over desperation won't play according to the detects of the party have decided to use the exit door which in a democratic setting is allowed have in their overzealous nature forgotten that the APC has it's own rules and over there as it is in the party "The party is supreme to any aspiration or individual".
While the best is all we can wish them in their pursuit we will advise that the APC thread with caution and not forget so soon their reasons for exiting the PDP.
