Security report in the Northeast is worrisome - FG

The minister of defence, Mansur Dan-Ali, says there has been lots of improvement in the security situation in the country more especially in Zamfara and Benue states and in Niger Delta.

He stated that the federal government has taken a critical look at the security situation in the northeast.

The federal government has described the security situation in the northeast geopolitical zone of the country as worrisome.

The minister of defence, Mansur Dan-Ali, made the statement shortly after a security briefing with President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja on Monday, August 20, Vanguard reports.

Dan-Ali, told journalists that the meeting was to update the president on all the activities that occurred while he was away in London.

The minister said: “This is a normal routine security briefing with Mr President. He just came back, so we briefed him on all the activities we had while he was away. It is an update of the August 2 meeting.

“The decision that has been taken is that we have seen that there is a lot of improvement in the security situation in the country more especially in Zamfara and Benue states and in Niger Delta.

In the North-East we are having worrisome report, we have looked into it critically and we have taken absolute decision.
